RentaCoder.com and Getafreelancer.com- Do they really charge high prices+Escrow

Have you ever submitted a project on rentacoder.com? they say once a service provider accepts your project, you have to escrow the money into an account. Does this mean if I accept a $100 bid,i have to pay escrow a minimum $25? Or does rentacoder.com have a special escrow service where you don't pay anything?

And is escrow on getafreelancer have the same prices as escrow on rentacoder.com?

On escrow's website it says this:

    $0-$5,000 3.25% ($25.00 minimum) for a standard account.

I don't even have an escrow account. i only have a rentacoder.com and getafreelancer.com account.

For some time ago I setup a project on rentacoder.com and used there escrow service, I do not remember what the fee was for it, but finally it worked. The Programmer that got on the job wasn't the best so I dropped the project afterwards.

RentACoder charges about 15%, which is too much in my opinion. I just used them to build up a client list, and now my clients ust pay to my paypal account.

If you accept a $100 bid - you will put $100 to escrow deposit.

Exactly, if you are the one posting a job to be done there is escrow, but no fee.

If you put a job up and accept a bid for $100, you pay $100. I think the coder will collect $85 from this. If you're happy with his work and trust him, next time you want something doing just contact him privately and agree a figure between 85-100 and you both are better off :)

I agree, but I work with a couple of coders now who I initially contacted through there, so without that site they wouldnt have got any work from me. Now we deal direct and the price we agree is the price that goes in their pockets. Its a good site for coders to build up a customer base, if they are good. If they arent up to scratch the ebay-style feedback system will quickly shoot them down :D

Its good to get a good few contacts and then contact them outside of the site to do the work at a mutual agreed price.

Ive done this with several websites, 1 guy I use for grpahic prodcution is out of NC, the website designer is from Sweden used them on projects before no problems and very happy with their work.
