Had a domain with Godaddy that I forgot to renew

After 25 days I contacted them and was informed

the grace period is only 15 days and I have to pay 80 dollars

to recover the domain Is that correct

Yes, that sounds fair. You might want to set the auto-renew on so you do not need to worry about renewing your domain name each time it expires. Make sure that your email address for the domain name is updates as they will send you warning almost on a weekly basis before it expires.

The only way that would be case is if someone already grabbed it and it's already for sale. If you notice godaddy is partnered with the domain market place TDNAM I believe, so domains listed for sale are usually shown as if avail, however being sold really. Also If it was truly expired and had become available, then they wouldn't ask you $80 since they know you'd be able to register it again elsewhere. So someone definitely has it for sale if your story is right.

Yes also, as eddy2099 said, even if you don't like the answer.
