Some domains registrars keep some domains if owner isn't renewed , or keep 1 month period......... so the best thing is having that backorder for the domain you like

You will have 30 days to get back the domain name after 30 days its $100.00.

and some registrars have domain aftermarket where you can order the domain with registration fee + ordering fee, If the owner of the domain does not register it you can get it by that way and it's registration date will not change.. another alternative but of course other people can also do that:rolleyes:

Expiration will not make the domain available.

After at least 30 days is will be in a redemption period where the current owner can get the domain back.

At the end of the redemption period, it will go into a 5 day period of pending delete.

Since the domain is with network solutions, you might want to check http://www.namejet.com/ which deals with their expired domains.

You need to wait 30 day to get the domain dropped.
Or you can buy a service called backorder that is offered by GD

I had nightmares transferring a domain, so I backordered it on the new registrar and let it lapse. It was THREE MONTHS after it elapsed before it was open, and even then I didn't get it. It's now VRE parked. I suspect it's owned by the dodgy registrar that I refused to pay yet another US$50 to for them to release it, when they hadn't done it twice previously.
Your best bet if you want something quickly is register something similar. If you win that one afterwards, you can always set up a permanent redirect.

That is the way to lose your domain name. If I were you I'd never leave important domain names of mine expire.
    Good luck
