Renaming pages and SE updates

I have decided to rename some pages and setup a redirection with .htaccess file. How much time (weeks/months/years...) will it take for Google/Yahoo/MSN to update the databases.

I'm going to change it because the pages have the same name, even if they are in different languages and I hope this will better the ranking in Google. :)

    Thanks

(I hope this is the right section for this thread, if not please move it :))

When you rename URL's with a .htaccess directive, it depends on how strong your site is before Google updates it's index. Also it will depend on how deep the pages are from the main page.

I would say about 2-3 weeks depending on your site authority.

    Thanks for your replies!

Pages are like mysite.com/dir/page.htm and Google crawler visit my site every 2-5 days

Also one more thing to note, they won't all update at once. The pages linked from home page will reflect in Google's index first and so on.
