I work for a school district and up until now, I have been pretty successful in having pages representing our 50+ schools get in compliance or have them removed. These last dozen pages seem to be huge problems and I have exhausted all resources in finding out who owns them or contacting the person. I have filed trademark violation requests with Facebook but they seem to be pretty uncooperative unless you have a registration #. We have no problems with people creating these pages but the issue lies in not knowing who's running it and provocative things getting posted and no way to remove them. And most people, including our board members seem to think I am able to hack Facebook and remove something we have no control over. Schools are not very good at keeping registrations and Facebook sends me this after I file a Trademark infringement request "An explanation as to how you believe the reported content is likely to cause confusion as to source, sponsorship, or affiliation, or otherwise infringes your rights" So I send the explanation and I never hear anything back from them. I'm hoping someone has some helpful tips to try. These Facebook pages clearly show our school buildings or logos.
Just in case anyone is looking for the same answer, the best solution I have come up with is to keep bugging Facebook and submitting claims. Sometimes you need to reword your submission and others helps getting the right Facebook employee looking at it. It's weird but does seem to be working and sometimes they send me emails letting me know that the site has been removed but other times I don't hear anything but the site no longer exists.
