Removing Signatures From the Equation

It must happen at some point or another I think . Signature links are garbage , completely useless and even misleading to SE users in terms of deciding the importance and PR of a certain site, and I am pretty sure that everyone including Google understand that these links are worthless in terms of determining the importance or relevance of the site they link to .
But if it would end there , that wouldn't be a problem I think . Problem is when these sites later use the PR they got from useless and misleading signature links in order to sell links to other sites , creating a chain reaction of fake importance ...

While forum posts that actually contain links in their content should contribute to the ranking and are a rather important part of the Internet dynamics , signature links are not related to the content of the posts at all... I think that it's a rather unique type of useless links , and requires specific changes to the algorithm in order to seperate them completely from useful and contributing links , the sooner the better .

    P.S Happy new Year !:D

That would make no sense you know .
I am not criticising the people that use this tool , I am criticising the fact that it's there . As long as it works , It would be mighty silly not use it ...
Btw , are you aware of the fact that "amitpatel" means "the wiggling one" in hebrew ?

Signature Links are for marketing, promoting your site or product to broaden the number of POS where your description will be displayed on a visually noticed information board.

Personally speaking and in the valued opinion of many internet folks that we interact with we do not utilize the signature for any other use.

'Signature links are garbage , completely useless'
That is an opinion generated from a single source
    -----------------------------------------------------

Marketing analysts look at marketing after surveying and evaluating numerous
points of views and market survey results.
We put more value in having input from 1,000's which is much more beneficial and effective in understanding how to market products:)

This strategy far outweighs a single opinion:)

Exactly! I have always found that using sigs on forums are a great way for driving traffic to a site and one forum that I do use that is relevant to my site gets me 100 referals per day.

I also tend to believe that if you use a sig for back link purposes then you should have the links on a relevant topic forum.

They are not useless to the people that put links in sigs . They are a great source for cheap(of free) and well-anchored permanent links .
I am talking about the SE users that get their results affected because someone dumped 42,000 backlinks into a 3 month old site , which later uses it to affect the rankings of more sites .

Hmm, I have always thought of sig links as a way to promote your site rather than a way to increase SE PR.

Hey, if you are replying to a post and you have a website in your sig, your site has a little do do with the post, but it HAS. For example, my sig :)
