Hello, I have a question. Is there a way to remove a link from Google? For instance I submitted my message board's default URL ( http://z7.invisionfree.com/bigboards/index.php ) when I first created my message board. Now, that a bought a new domain ( http://bigboardsresources.com/ ) I would like the new domain to be used in place of the old domain in the Google's search results, therefore I would need to remove the old URL. Is there any way to do this? Not only for the domain issue, but some SEO tools that I use state I have to many URL's submitted within Google's index. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Doesn't that require PHP though? If it does I wouldn't be able to do that because InvisionFree doesn't support PHP. Any other method that I could go about doing this? Remember my last sentence to. Thanks again.
Don't worry about PHP stuff 301 redirect is just a simple copy, edit and paste code on your .htaccess. No programming knowledge required just do a google search on how to find the right script for you.
Follow these steps: 1. Add the URL's into your robots.txt file 2. Visit here 3. Sign up and submit your robots.txt file Within 5 / 10 days all of your content in your robots.txt file will be removed from the Google search results - it'll take a little longer to be removed from all data centers though. Disclaimer: If it goes tits up don't blame me - but it's worked for me tons of times.
Lucky you, because once in Google cache, it's be very hard get your site de-indexed. I have been trying using all imaginable methods, from robots to meta tags, re-upload content, redirections, Google removal tool, etc. etc. More than 20 months after and I can't take my pages out yet :/
Thank you for your kind, inspirational suggestion. Any who, thanks everyone. I shall do some experimenting with the .htaccess and robots.txt file methods. If nothing works, I guess I'll just have to deal with it. Using the default URL will be fine. As for there being to many URL's in Google's index, that may affect my search engine rankings. But, like I said, I'll deal with it. Thanks again everyone.
Well goodluck to your experiment. Both robots.txt and .htaccess will both beneficial to your experiment. cheers!
Sorry, but you can't be doing it right then. I removed some pages last week - now gone forever from Google. It is adviseable that if your pages get traffic, then do a 301 direct - if they don't get traffic, just use the method I've mentioned above.
