Does it true that google wants to remove pagerank?
I have seen it in some places.

Google have no plan to remove the PR, just weightless than before.

There was a post in Google’s webmaster forums by Susan Moskwa recently which created all this buzz...

"We’ve been telling people for a long time that they shouldn’t focus on Pagerank so much; many site owners seem to think it’s the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true. We removed it because we felt it was silly to tell people not to think about it, but then to show them the data, implying that they should look at it. "

But I think Google updated its PR just 2-3 weeks ago. If they care to update it - they care enough to maintain it.

The quotes means the focus should not be on PR - But again that does not mean it should not be considered at all.

So far, it's only on webmasters tools. Somehow I don't think they will just remove it. It still plays some part though although not really significant.

Showing the PageRank in their toolbar was great for Google for many years. It was
a novelty that webmasters loved. The TOOBAR PR is not doing Google much good now
since they are #1 SE, instead, webmasters are using the TBPR to buy/sell links which
    hurts Google's algo.

They have diluted PR in their algo.
They have reduced the size of the PR bar in the toolbar.
They no longer show PR in toolbar for MOST subpages.

Imo, they would like to remove PR from the toolbar and probably
they have a long term plan to do that, but, I am sure that PR will
ALWAYS be one of their main ranking factors.

In my opinion, Google removing PageRank will put the SEO world in a state of chaos.

You probably heard that in this forum only (maybe from me :)) it was because Google was not updating their PR. Now they have updated (30th Oct), PR is here to stay.
