I have a file that I downloaded from my mini dv camcorder to pc using Sony Vegas movie studio. The file has alot of backgound hiss that I can't figure out how to get out. I also have Sony Sound forge 7 audio software and have gone through the options many times but with limited luck. Please help Thank You
I would also suggest Goldwave...They also offer a really long free trial. I have been using it for around 6 months and the trial still hasn't been used up. Really nice software
Sound forge 7 now comes with a noise reduction built in. You must sample the noise or hiss you're trying to remove first then apply that to your whole track.
You can clean the audio within Sony Movie studio. Click on the "audio track FX" icon between the "Record track" and "mute" icons. When the dialog appears click on the "edit chain" button on the top left. Select the "audio restoration" FX. Move the "Reduce Noise" slider to clean the noise or filter out the hissing sound.
Soundforge is a bit difficult to use. I'd recommend steinberg wavelab. And always 'normalise' your recording after completing it, that way it will become louder without loosing the dynamics.
