Removing a site from google when your name is googled

Not sure where to put this, but I'll explain the situation. I'm in the process of getting a job working on my company's blog. They brought up the fact that, for "branding" issues, my http://hothawaiiexoticgirls.com site comes up when you google my name, and that's a problem.

How do I remove it from google? You can see it, when you google "<removed for indexing reasons>" it comes up as the very last one, even though I have never added my name to the site. So how do I get rid of that, and how long will it take?

You can log into Google Webmaster Tools (http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ ), make sure you have verified ownership of your site, and use the "Remove URL" tool. That should get it completely removed from the Google index. You probably would want to make a robots.txt file that excludes indexing.

But it's trickier if you want your site to stay in the Google index and just not be linked to your name. You can try to contact sites that have your name and web site linked and have that information removed. For example, when I Google your name, this site with that information comes up: http://podcamphawaii.eventbrite.com/ . You also need to be careful in the future that your real name and your sexy girl web site aren't linked together. (If you can, you might want to edit this post, because the DP forum does pretty well in the Google rankings.)

But I suspect it would be easier to flood the first page of Google with other content. You have a Facebook profile, so that's good. You could also make a LinkedIn profile, a Twitter profile with your real name (that you don't use for "exotic girls"-related stuff - use a Hawaii Guy Twitter account for that), a web site with your name as URL and nice unobjectionable content about you. I just googled my own name and other stuff that comes up for me: my Amazon wish list, posts I made on some message boards under my real name, a couple blog interviews I did. Those are all possibilities.

Thanks for the good info. I want it to still be indexed by Google, just not with my name attached. After thinking about it, I think I probably left a comment as my name, and left the "hothawaiiexoticgirls.com" as the url, and that's how google put the two together. I have no idea which blog it was. If I can somehow find it, can I just email the owner asking them to delete the comment, and will that fix the problem?

I'm sure I never put my first and last name anywhere on that site, so it must have been a blog comment I did, that's the only thing I can think of that would do it.

As far as flooding with content, it is. I have a solid 4 pages in google of other info, but the link in questions still pops up, and it's the very last one. Unfortunately, the person who does the hiring for the job I'm looking to get still found it, and made it clear that I need to take care of the problem before I can move forward with getting hired :(

Are you using gravatars? The reference to your name could be coming from there. Short of that Nonny hit the nail on the head. That is exactly how to approach that. Your other option is to set up privacy on the domain itself so it cant be whois'd

I am using gravatars, but I don't think they link to that site. I'll double check just to make sure though.

Crap, I just googled my name again, and even though I edited my real name out of the first post, google still shows it! Will this post get reindexed any time soon, or are they kind of permanent?

It's going to take time for the linkage in the Google index to disappear. You are much better off adding pages that have your name on them so the unwanted site is at least pushed off the first page.

Yeah, another person who has my exact name that just happens to live in Hawaii of all places, lol. This situation is a good lesson to be UBER cautions when attaching your name to things online. The site I linked to is PG rated at worst, but this is still causing me problems even though it is only fully clothed and respectable posts.

This is why so many people don't use their real names online.. You can't hide from what you do here..

I do think its sort of funny that your new job is worried about it.. How hard is it to say that its someone else with the same name??

    Ok, LAST QUESTION :)

I'd like this thread to be deleted, as it's the last piece of evidence standing. All of this is just pretty ridiculous, as the site itself is so tame, nothing worse than MTV or something.

Anyways, I'm having trouble contacting an admin and requesting they remove the thread, how do I do this?

In google webmaster Tools you can ask google to reindex your website and Cache.
