They only way I think is to email the site owner and ask.

Then the site owner can do it using robots.txt file right ?? Then how come if they refuse ?? Imagine a porn site linking to your site..

There is nothing you can do but ask the person who owns the website to remove the link - but you cannot force them to do it.

mjewel is right there is not much you can do but ask, be nice about it.

The robot.txt file only comes into play for bots, spiders and crawlers.

Your visitors are not going to know about the porn site linking to you unless they are into web work and know how to check backlinks.

I wouldnt worry about it too much.

First, as Google puts it, an external link to your site is something beyond the Webmaster's (your) control. So Google will not punish you for that, unless you link back of course. And even then -- only if the site you're linking to is penalized or irrelevant or whatever. Remember, nothing *other* sites can do can get you penalized. Imagine if the opposite were true...

Second, you should really be asking yourself a question: Why would a porn site's Webmaster decide to link to my site? I didn't look at your site, but maybe there's a small chance you gave him/her a reason to do so?

And yes, I agree the only way to get this link removed is email and ask. But don't worry too much about everyone who links to you. Generally this is beyond your control.

If you're still worried, you may also consider placing a short respective notice on your site: "We are not responsible for the content of Websites that link to us, since this is something we do not control."

There's no chance at all that i give them a reason to link, for what??

If you're still worried, you may also consider placing a short respective notice on your site: "We are not responsible for the content of Websites that link to us, since this is something we do not control."

If you don't have any porn related on your site, then don't worry about the links to your site - the more the merrier. Bad publicity is still publicity :D

Interesting thread...for what it's worth, I've looked at a lot of interesting links from sites whose purpose could be considered contrary to ours. My philosophy is that the content of a good site will speak for itself...and all the better if they've arrived from a site that is trying to contradict you.

As for the issue of search results containing your site's name, I think people are wise enough to the nature of search that this will not affect their opinion of your site.

Agree fully with BOG and GN77 here.

Did they other site link to you within the context of an article or is it just a random link?

If you want to find out, but don't want to look at porn, turn off images and flash in your browser first.
