Ok i have a website on my lighttpd server with the url www.example.com, but whenever i type in my url into my ie8 browser and push Enter, the url changes to www.example.com/
I don't want the forward slash ( / ) at the end of my url. How do i remove this with lighttpd?

I only want the forward slash to be displayed if i have a url like www.example.com/news. For the homepage i want the url to be www.example.com WITHOUT the forward slash at the end. If a person types in the forward slash i want them to be redirected to the url WITHOUT the forward slash.

I believe that's done by the browser.
