I want to shift my niche but for the same domain. I want to remove all the previously indexed pages from google (around 59000) .. So that the new content (from the new niche) can be indexed.

Just delete the old pages from the server. I actually switched once without even deleting the old pages and everything worked fine. 59k are too many for webmaster tools, unless you wanted to remove the whole site from index and submit reinclusion!

It makes more sense to use a well established domain with backlinks and web history. And, it could be one of those recepie database pages that don't bring a single visitor

Why would you want to remove all of the pages?

remove old pages, add 404 error pages to handle the non-existent pages and keep adding new content and make fresh sitemap. In a months time it should be all ok.

Its not a big deal. You make the changes and once Google crawl your pages it will update its search engine.

One way is to just change your site name or change the pages on the server.

Remove the sitemap. Add a robots.txt rule for Googlebot and finally make a removal request from GWT.

No there will be no problem with your domain if you haven't converted your website into parked domain. Otherwise you will find huge changes in SERP's and nothing in PR
