Remarketing, Excluding Websites, and Over-Optimizing Questions

    Hello Everyone,

I work for an agency that focuses on the real estate community. When we first started, we have received our most conversions from our Remarketing campaign.

However, recently we have not seen as many conversions coming from our remarketing campaign.

Some changes that we've made to our campaign:
-Excluded websites that seem like spam
    -update our display ad copies

We are suspecting that there are many websites out there that are spam and only receive clicks because the websites admins are clicking in order to receive more revenue.

I believe that we are over-optimizing our placements, but we also do not want to bleed money on spam like websites.

Does anyone have experience with Remarketing and what was the best practices they have used? All opinions are welcome.

    Thanks!

    Chris

I would not assume click fraud to be happening. Because you are re-marketing your display ad will show on every site out there if your bid wins the placement. This includes all the crappy viral sites. While you can exclude sites I would not make that a focus.

You can layer in targeting so people in your re-marketing list who are also Males above age 35 or select specific topics layered in with your re-marketing efforts.

You may also be re-marketing for TOO long. You get to set your re-marketing time frame. If it's set to 300+ days you may find that as time goes on the ROI becomes less and less. This is because you are still re-marketing to people from 300 days ago and this can bleed your budget far more then intended.

You can also cap how many views each adgroup gets a day per user. You may find that bidding HIGH with a 2 day cap and only a 15 day remarketing pixel for people on ABC topic website yields the best kind of results.

    Regards,

    Jacob
