Religious texts will be a duplicate content?! I have a blog, about Buddhism, and I think it would be in place to put there also some religious texts, they most probably are somewhere on the net, but not too easy to find when you need it.... And I don't know how Google would be looking to this....Because, if they are meant to be religious means they will be always as they are and can't be changed....
You will be fine.. That is like saying if you have the Same sentence as someone google will go against you. now if all of you content is duplicated that is where you will run into problems.
You will have no problem at all. I have had a religious website at www.jimfeeney.org for nine years. In 250+ pages I quote thousands of texts directly from the Bible. Google and other search engines understand this and do not give duplicate content penalties for such quotes.
I would try to keep the quoted and duplicate content to a minimum, and make sure you have lots of your own original content too.
There are hundreds, perhaps thousands of religious websites that post the entire Scriptures of their faith online. I'm not aware of any instances of Google considering that to be "duplicate content".
Have you install any Plug-in or tag to know Google about the religious quotes so that they not count as Duplicate content. Because all the content & data fetch by Bots not by human being that know about religious content.
I would not worry about that. The same goes for transcripts of famous political speeches. Google "State of the Union *insert year*" and you will see.
If in addition to the quoted text on the page is something else then Google shouldn't make any problems.
Religious texts, Scientific Rules, Scientist Rules, Proverb, protasis etc we are use in a our content. Google is not giving penalty for it in Past & Present as a content duplication.
