I think religion is one of the biggest causes of the world's problems. Does that make me ignorant ?
I think religion has it's own good values and things to offer the weak minded, such as escaping reality and giving hope, mental strength and such. But it has much more negative things than these good things, IMO.

You call upon anyone who thinks religion is bad, ignorant. This makes you a hypocrite, no ?

rofl @ exes post....but Devilhellz is correct IMO because it does give hope, although I don't totally rule out a "divine being", I certainly don't believe that this being can somehow magically communicate messages into our minds from another world....I don't get it, people are too wound up in these things to think about if what they're believing is rational or just complete shit...

Einstein believed the same thing. He recognized evidence of a Great Designer but did not believe in a God that could interact with us on a personal level. I've always found that to be a strange belief, believing in something powerful enough to create the universe, but not powerful enough to communicate with us.

It is only strange when you try and put "god" on your level. Get over your ego.

I said nothing about trying to put God on my level. Unless you think communicating with someone brings you to their level. It is not "ego" that makes me think God can and does communicate with us, it's evidence and experience.

Have you never created something and been interested in it? Have you never created something and loved it?

instead of trying to get around answering the question by asking more questions, Just answer it.

Why on earth would god want to talk to you? Of all people, You. I'm a mere mortal and even i aren't enjoying it. So if i was the grand creator of everything in the universe and had access to every single person who had ever live i'm pretty sure i could think of something better to do than pop over to your house and have a chat.

That is why it's an ego thing. You seem to be under the impression that in the grand scheme of things, In the infinity of the universe, Your tiny little existence would be important enough for the creator of everything to come and talk to you.

If I was trying to get around answering the question by asking more questions I would have just said "why not?" Just because you cannot fathom it does not mean it is not true. But look, I gave you a reason YOU could understand but you choose just to bicker and be petty. Here are the questions rephrased into a sentence: I believe God is interested in and loves His creation. Happy now?

So that's why he goes to you personally? He created the universe and everything in it, Yet you are the one he decides to talk to? get over yourself.

If you are actually hearing voices in your head and not just claiming to in an attempt to appear a bit special or gifted id seek help. I'm not joking. Hearing voices is a sign of some serious brain problems.

I whole heartedly believe my religion! I know because i was a atheist myself. I didnt start following religion because i needed help in some difficult religions. I will tell you this truth of LIFE from my religion(hinduism), if anyone gets this message good for him.

" A human being is born here on earth to pay for his sins, he should pray to the god to make up for his sins from his last birth, and to beg him that he should give us again this human life and ask him to be with him in heaven"

else you would continue to get this human life, and you cant acheive eternity!

    - btw atheism is also a path to reach ones eternity

    Cobblers.

    It should read:

"A human being is born here on earth to make the most of his life and enjoy it."

I never said he speaks to me exclusively, or that he speaks audibly, or that he puts voices in my head. Can you read with comprehension?

God communicates to all people 1) through his Word the Bible 2) through others 3) through circumstance 4) through the Holy Spirit, what some people call their conscience. Many times I've faced difficulties in my life and found the answer in the Bible. There are many times I've been in a quandary and not known what to do about a situation, and as soon as I prayed I was instantly given a perfect answer, like something was being downloaded into my brain. The litmus test is that 2, 3, and 4 will never disagree with number 1, if they do it's only wishful thinking.

    5) He also speaks through his magnificent creation, in all the awesome, incredible, and impossible intricacies of life. Even if the universe were eternal there would never be enough random chance to produce the design, order, and purpose we see here on this planet.

It's sad that you don't feel you are responsible for yourself.
When i don't have any money, know what i do? I work harder.
When i have a difficult situation, know what i do? I get through it.

You on the other hand have to go running to god as if even your own life is too much for you to handle.

Also, it's a bit big headed of you to think that god would help you out when you face a "difficulty" yet thousdands of other peoples prayers go unanswered in a life or death situation. How many africans do you think have prayed for food, Water or relief from the terrible pain of AIDS. most of them i would guess... Yet they are forgotten and he rushes to help you with your pathetic little problems? If that is what god does then he is a complete asshole and you should be ashamed of worshiping someone so heartless.

I am responsible for myself and provide for six others and more. Why do you feel the need to keep trying to speak on my behalf?

    Yep, me too.

    Yep, me too.

What, I guess you are soooooooo smart you never ask anyone else for help?

Actually thousands, no millions of prayers are answered every day whether they are life and death or small things. You call me big headed for believing God can answer small prayers too? Yet you are so big headed and righteous and all knowing you think you can judge God? How many people have prayed for food, water, and relief and received it? Huh? Yet you focus on only the bad, like bad shouldn't exist. What "bad" happens is the result of people's choices. And yes, our choices affect other people. Maybe if you were God you would design a totally insulated room for every person so they could never hurt themselves or anyone else. But you are not God and you have no right to judge Him.

Speaking of judging, since you are an evolutionist I suppose you applaud when someone else struggles and dies? Survival of the fitness and natural selection and all that nonsense.

How can you be? You keep asking god for favours because you are unable to do something for yourself. If you could be responsible for yourself you wouldn't have to ask god for anything.

I can't remember the last time i had to ask anyone for help. Why would that surprise you? perhaps begging for help because you constantly fail is something that is common for you, But most responsible adults needing help is a rarity.

thousands of prayers may appear to be answered everyday. That is the beauty of the "yes, No, wait" principle that surrounds prayer. You could pray to absolutely anything and see the same number of prayers being answered. Yet when an amputee prays, Nothing happens. Ever. Nobody has even grown a new limb.

Yes i can judge god. He's an asshole and you are self-centered and narcissistic to think that he would answer your prayers yet not those of more deserving people.

how did you come to that conclusion? I believe evolution takes place and i believe it's engine is natural selection. That doesn't mean i like to see the weak killed anymore than your belief in cancer means you like to see people get it.

If i were to disbelieve evolution simply because i think it's sometimes unfair it would make me as irrational and backwards as, Say, Someone who believes in the invisible man in the sky who grants wishes.
