Since 80% of my buyers are from the U.S. I need to rank well there. I don't live in the U.S., so to monitor how I'm doing, I use GreenwichMeanTime.com to search Google USA. Is that an accurate reflection of the Google results that the typical U.S. web user sees? Is there a better way to check? Also, while we're at it, can someone explain to me in 100 words or less (and links might be nice) the basics of what I need to know about geo-targeting?
Better work on manual checking of your rank in Google. But if you are outside the US, you need to use Proxy US IP.
