Any other ones out there that are less than $22? And the country proof of citizenship that they want is just a valid canadian address?
I've used Namespro and Sibername to register .ca domains. You need to have an account with the Canadian Internet Registration Authority to own .ca domain names. Your registrar should create one for you if you don't yet have one. (I opened my CIRA account through Namespro) To create your CIRA account, you will indeed need a Canadian address (Canadian citizenship not required). It needs to be your address and it cannot be your registrar's address. CIRA is quite strict in enforcing this and has not shied away from taking away domains that had been registered without a valid Canadian address.
I wonder if only the Canadian domain registrar can provide registration in .ca zone? Are ther any coupons on this domain extension? SiberName.com provides it for $11.65. Nice price IMO.
Im not sure about support, their control panel isn't the greatest but not worse then any other .ca registrar from what Ive seen. I just used that coupon again and it seems to be 10% everything so try forumcoupon2008 if you decide to transfer. If you are wondering about support try calling their tech support during the day and see how long it takes to get through, dont call sales support as they are likely to answer right away but that isn't a measure of support. eg. for GoDaddy sales support = 1-2 min wait, tech support 30-40 min
