relevancy of links from directories - PR?

    Hi,

This should be obvious, but I still have doubts about this. Can you tell me, if directory has PR 6 on home page, and has PR 2 on your desired subcategory, what is relevancy and worth of the link from their site? The homepage PR, or PR of the page where you submitted your entry?

Also, do you rely on directory submissions for PR pump, or as a traffic source?
Why would someone apply for a link of PR0 directory? I saw some people from out here do this?

Thanks allot for all the answers,

    D.

The relevant PR is the PR of the page your link appears on. If the relevant subcategory PR is 2, then that is the relevant PR.

Very little traffic is generated from most directories; they are mostly used for backlinks to increase your ranking in search engines, and for PR.

Just because a directory has a PR of 2 now, doesn't mean that will always be the case. It's probably a new directory, and should go up in the next PR update.
    Besides, it's still a link.

So, you say that link is valiable no matter what? Pr wise, and traffic wise ?

    Cheers,

Basically, any straight html link to your website is good.

    For the time being, anyway

Yeah, from what I've seen so far, one-way links can only help you. As long as you don't link back to them, I wouldn't worry too much about the PR of the directory. That being said, I haven't been submitting to any directories with a 0 PR. Maybe they're just waiting for a Google update, but I'll wait & hit them later on when they have some PR.
