Relevance of Links vs. Number of Links?

I know there is no real answer to this, but I am curious as to your opinions.

I have an adult site. I want to build a strong link base like anyone else, and have many oppurtunities to link with several different types of sites. So, I guess It all comes down to this:

Quality or Quantity?

Obviously, having both is ideal. But the situation perplexes me. Should I go out and get as many links as I can (no matter what the content) or be very choosy and in the process perhaps exluding alot of healthy incoming links from irrelevant sites?

i think quality over quantity

 

For adult based sites you'll not find many sites to link. SO you have to concentrate on links from Adult indsutry, adult dating etc...

Only number f links can save you if you want to be TOP.

 

I still go for quality. IMO there is no use of having more link if you will not be able to convert it into sales or sign ups. What I aim for is to have a great number of quality link. ('',)

 

You will get the benefit of link building if you concentrate on the quality of the links which are based on your theme.

Do not go for QUANTITY !!!

A large quantity of links is relatively easy to have: many will use farm links for that but it will only penalise your site.

 

But, MSN loves quantity...from what i've found..

 

I'd rather have 5 links from 5 .edu domains, rather than 50.000 links from any other sites.

So Quality.

 

Who cares about the search engines? Quality links makes your visitorsm to come back, that's the highest priority here!

 

But which .edu site will link to an adult site?

But i would prefer quantity. I would get large quantity and a few quality ones
