Relatively high traffic site, looking for tips on adsense placement

    Hey guys,

I am running a few sites, another one is doing quite well in adsense, with over 4% CTR, while my Call of Duty Strategy site is pretty much failing when it comes to CTR and revenue. I have only .08% CTR. As such, I only get clicks every few days, and I mean the site does pay for itself in the long run, but it really is way too low. I think with this kind of traffic, the revenue could be higher.

What would the adsense experts suggest in adsense placement? Where would you put the ads? Thanks in advance guys, seriously.

best place is right at the top of the page either a big banner above title or a big rectangle right in the middle at the top of the page

First of all, if your site depends largely on return traffic like most of these fan sites are, then your CTR would be very low since it is unlikely any regulars to your website would click on an ad. Ads are mostly clicked by new visitors to your site so you might want to look at what % of your traffic are actually new comers before deciding if the 0.08% CTR is low.

Helo when u say 4% do they click top ad or bottom? My experts tell me that if u place a big adblock on top u can increase that easily tp 6% I get 5% ctr on my custom rug site and avgrage .08 a click. Once I put ad at top it went from .33. Day to .54. Good luck bro

Top of your site, and as I guess you have made articles about some stratagies? Please some ads into the articles. Just below the introduction.
Blend it in so it looks like a link, or just plain text. Uhmm below the article is not soooo good spot but you can try it tho.

Test, test, test. Day 1. Use the Top placement.. Day 2. Use the mid placement.. Day 3. Use the lower placement. Day 4. Check which one is doing the best job and keep that. That's the way to go.. I think.

    Okay

I visited your site and clicked into a topic. The two ads I noticed were one for insurance quotes and another for ladies shoes.
I don't think these are the types of products that appeal to people who are visiting your site. That can account for the low CTR.
Ads that are perfectly matched to subject matter do well.

Maybe there aren't enough advertisers that serve this market?

Maybe you should think about promoting specific products that your audience would enjoy and not Adsense on this site.
Like one person said. You need to test and see what works best.

Well, if I were you, I would get a coder to code a script that would place the adsense ads outside the page and flow right with the page. Very much like your bookmarking icons on the right. It uses ajax. You could similarly get a code to put the ads on the left. That way people would have enough time to look at the ads and click on em. That is the best idea I could come up with right now.

I recommend you put a medium or large rectangle at the top of every post. I good spot would be to the right of the image.

I've heard that's not allowed by Adsense? Does anyone know the rules on that?
