Relative vs Absolute CSS Positioning Debacle

Ok, so I've been struggling with this issue for the better part of 3 days now and have done nothing but frustrate myself. Basically I've tried messing with the CSS positioning of this web page using both relative and absolute positioning and have come to one of two results:

    1) Using absolute positioning, everything stays where its supposed to no matter if I'm using IE, Firefox, Safari, etc. But, the second I try and size my screen to another resolution (say 1024x768), the positioning of the central column in the main content area stays pinned.

    2) Using relative positioning, I am able to resize my screen as I see fit in IE and everything is just fine...but when I switch to Firefox or another browser, the central positioning is off.

I've redone this several times using px, em, and percentages for units...all with the same results.

Please help...I am hopelessly lost and frustrated.

I've attached the CSS sheets I'm using as well as the HTML page. The URL for the site is below

    Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
