Relation between Page Rank and SERP Explained

Page rank is very important for any site

    1) If you have a page rank of 0 , you will not get many quality backlinks from sites related to yours.

eg : If you have a site on travel and you have a PR of 6 , you will get more quality backlinks from important travel sites than if you had a PR of 0 .

The links coming to your site ( together with the anchor text of these links) plays a very important role of your site`s SERP.

Anchor text of backlinks should always have your main keywords in them.

So to conclude page rank is equally important in determining your site`s SERP .

That would insinuate that all new webpages will end up with PR0. If you have quality content and people find your website worthwile, I don't think it will be a problem to get some quality backlinks.

Outgoing links seem to be good as well, as long as you link to websites that are of high quality. Google just wants your website to be relevant to the searcher, that's the whole concept you have to get to grips with.

...assuming that the person who is going to link to you cares about PR. If I was going to link to a travel site, I would look at the site first and make sure it met some 'minimum standards'. The travel site having a low PR wouldn't stop me linking to it.

As for the relationship between PR and SERPS, PR is only one factor of many that influence your rankings. Low PR sites can outrank high PR sites depending on the search terms. Equally, it can have a positive effect too.

You got that right! There are lots of things to consider like the content and if the site you want to exchange with have bad links like link farms and etc.

Example of Bad link See the error?

Absolute rubbish! Here I was expecting a new discovery and its the same old crap over and over again! I'd take links from 10 PR0 sites sending me 100 uniques each than one PR8 sending me 10 ....

I have to agree with lewney.

I've started out but had pr5 and 6 sites link to me because of good content. I think PR is overrated.
