Related IP numbers

Does anyone know if Google penaltizes similar sites with related (sequential) IP numbers? We have several sites with related products, and recently moved to the same server which have related, sequential IP numbers.

Will Google view these as the same or related sites? Thanks

If, as some say here, related IP numbers do not hurt you with the major search engines, has it changed, or was it always this way.

I was under the impression that, at one time, Google and the other big guys would penalize you and declare the sites to be related.
