It is very interesting as I look at the ads at the top of DP Forums, that they are now matching the keywords in the posts.

Look at this page and the ads at the top.

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1113&page=1&pp=10

What I am seeing are Ads based on the posts, I was talking about what part of the country I lived in in the above page linked and it is showing ads for Panama City Beach.

When we were talking about the Zoolander in the one thread it was showing ads for Zoos.

Does anyone else notice this and how it works?

I was commenting on the thread about Superman Shawn the other night and we were also talking about how funny Compar was, guess what, they were showing comic book ads and Superman ads.

This technology is quite good, I will compliment Google when they do something good now, will I not?

I want to get me a Adsense number so I can rake in some of that cash!

Isn't that always how AdSense worked? Serving ads relevent to the content of the pages they are on?

Well Shawn, I was wondering how relevant they were when they were flashing ads for Zoos at a webmaster forum, remember that we were discussing that if they were able to use toolbar data or a personal profile on the individual computer user then the ads would be MORE relevant.

I just get quite a kick out of looking at Superman ADS when we are talking about the Master of the Universe.

It is kind of funny when I am telling Compar that I get a kick out of his comedy and end up looking at comic ads.

It is damm well good technology, but it could improve based on the theme of the website, how many of us are going to go to the Zoo.

What I did notice that I think has changed at least as related to DP is this, the night we were doing the "I'd rather live in a Zoo" thread I think the ads were keyed off of the title of the thread.

What I have noticed recently is that the copy on the page seems to be targeted better at DP for some reason.

I know that on the Zoo thread those Zoo ads were consistant throughout the entire thread even when there was no mention of the word Zoo on the pages in that very long thread, so I figure that they were working off of the title at that time.

Maybe I am wrong, but I see that the ads are keying off of the individual pages now.

I thought they had to spider the pages to deliver relevant ads, but it seems that this targeting is real time somehow.

Do they have the ability to read these pages with the script in the ADSENSE program code?

How do they pick up the copy and target ads back without spidering the pages, that would be the question.

If you look at "who's online" under Quick Links you will usually find more Google bots visiting the site than real members. So they may be reading pages almost as soon as they are available.

Well Bob I am going to have to give you my Phone Number because I don't see what you see.

I see members online all the time and guests online, but where in the hell are the bots? Do they show up as guests or members?

Thanks Bob, I figured it out based on going back and reading your post slowly.

You know Bob, you always have a lot of logic in that mind of yours, what is your educational background?

    Self Educated, Grad School?

I was looking at the bottom of the page where the members and guests are listed, then I found the drop down menu and found the page, you should have told me it was the drop down menu at the top.

I guess there are no free rides with you Bob!

I told you it was under "Quick Links". Next time I'll draw you a little map. :D

If you are really interested I have an MBA, but I also think I'm highly self educated.

One of my Father's favourite saying was "some people live and learn, others just live". I've always tried to be in the live and learn class.

You can tell Bob by your posts that you went to school, most of mine tell you that I am a fool.

Well I can see that this forum will be one of the Big Ones, there are so many forums now, every webmaster seems to have one.

There are so many problems on some forums that I think a lot of members leaving other places will land here. I seems like a good place for the free exchange of ideas, free exchange of ideas seem to come at a premium now all of a sudden.

This heavy handed moderation of forums will drive members to leave, I know when I find a bias moderator, I will leave and will never contribute to that forum again.

I think if you hang around that will help also Bob.

It serves that as an ad if Google only has PSA ads available.

Well, I'm not promoting AdSense, and sharing profit doesn't violate their TOS (at least as far as I know).
