rel=nofollow for a blog directory? - Good SEO vs Good Service

I recently co-founded a new social blog network, and Google seems to like it, giving it a very nice PR4 pat on the back in a very short space of time.

We want to keep our users happy, by using 'do-follow' links for every blog, but conventional SEO wisdom says this is bad, as we'll inevitably end up linking to what google sees as 'bad neighborhoods'.

Catch 22 - Our page-rank is important, but so are our members, and we want to be able to continue offering a PR4(+) link to blogs without the 'no-follow' tag, and will keep it that way for now, but should we consider protecting our page rank with no-follows?

What would you do? Keep the do-follows and risk a drop in page rank (my preference), or change to no-follow links and sell our souls to satan?

Comment moderation if you want to do-follow, that way you can make sure your comment links are safe. Also considering a link monitoring system to find and remove dead links or that redirect to another site.

Just the sheer link volume alone should protect your site. As long as your site doesn't become PREDOMINANTLY spam, you should be okay. Keep the do follow.

For making a blog popular you need to follow "dofollow" movement.
Well within the blog expert's comment also required, if blog owner missed out any point or fact in content, experts can do correct by posting comments, and they will only and only can do if they will get some juice by posting a precious comment,
It's rude way that people are using nofollow, if you are a blog owner you need to moderate each and every comment.
otherwise you will not get succeeded now a days.
