I heard that placing "rel=affiliate" in the link should save the site from getting penalized. Is that true? Can someone explain the meaning behind "rel=affiliate" tag and it's use in buying/selling links? Thanks.

I have not heard of the rel="affiliate" tag... But why not use rel="nofollow"?

Why is it people keep calling it (NoFollow) a tag when it is an attribute?

Must be something created out of nowhere. This is the first time that I've heard of the rel=affiliate :)
