I consider it to be quite absurd myself.

I mean we'd know it because you'd know if you were somebody else before.

Also, the fact that we don't know something doesn't give it any likelihood per se. Reincarnation is only an idea with no base, and as such, it only makes sense discussing it within the "what if..." realm, unless there is some evidence that is may be a real thing.

It's just another fairy-story made up by people who were afraid of death. People spend far so long worrying about the here-after that they forget to live this life. If they aren't trying to please some imaginary entity they are devising more and more ludicrous ways that may mean they get to live forever.

If reincarnation was true, That is, If when something died it came back as something else, There would be a consistent number of organisms on the planet at all times, That number would never change. it does change, Ergo reincarnation is crap.

Also, what would be the point of it if you had no recollection of your numerous previous lives?

Now i expect someone to come up with a bizarre rationalisation to justify a continued belief in something patently untrue, Like that some "souls" are kept behind and brought back at different times or that only some things get reincarnated. Let's see who can make up the most irrational, contrived excuse for a continued belief in it.

Hello stOx I have noticed that you are always right and if anyone else has a different opinion or belief than you do then they are either stupid, irrational or ignorant.

What a great world it would be if everyone agreed with you on everything

    Oh, can I try?

You use the number of organisms on the planet at any one time as proof that reincarnation is crap. However, we have no way of knowing how many organisms are actually on the planet. If being reincarnated as something less than human is punishment for not leading a good life, then it is reasonable to assume that other organisms are occasionally reincarnated as humans. There's a lot of life on this planet when it's all taken into account.

Or, how about...the conservation of energy law that states energy can not be created or destroyed, it only changes form. If the "soul" was a form of energy, then this would also make reincarnation, in some form, plausible.

The rays of light merge with the sun, and water merges with water.
One's light blends with the Light, and one becomes totally perfect.
I see God, hear God, and speak of the One and only God.
The soul is the Creator of the expanse of creation. Without God, I know no other at all.
He Himself is the Creator, and He Himself is the Enjoyer. He created the Creation.
Prays Nanak, they alone know this, who drink in the subtle essence of the Lord. ||4||2||

    You can try, but harder...
what does it change if we knew that?

what's the idea about a punishment if you have no recollection after you are re-born?

do other organisms get punished or rewarded too? for what? What does a naughty earthworm reincarnate into?
Here, you state a law of conservation of energy, but it doesn't give any likelihood to the next statement, which, in fact is a veeery long stretch for an assumption (that there IS a 'soul'), and without support for that assumption the whole thing falls apart.

I can throw a few random questions: what is that soul? (I guess the answer will be 'energy') what is it bound to? your mind? your heart? your whole body?

do all organisms have it? dogs? sheep? crabs? sea monkeys? seaweed? How about E. coli? (remember, no "mind" here). You can easily grow one E. coli cell into hundreds of millions in a bottle overnight. Will all of them get a soul? From who?

I don't mean you to answer these questions, just to realise that the whole matter IS actually absurd.

I know, but stox asked for a bizarre rationalization. I was a bit pressed for time when I posted that, so I wasn't able to provide a *complete* bizarre rationalization. I'll try harder next time. :)

For the record, I don't believe in reincarnation or the existence of any soul. I think personality and what some think of as the soul is merely a product of brain chemistry. The radical personality changes that occur when the brain is severely damaged (through injury, lobotomies, etc.) is, in my mind, good evidence that there is no underlying "soul" behind a person and their behavior.

The law of conservation of energy still holds true, but this is not as reincarnation. After death, the body's energy will be used by bacteria, insects, plants, larger animals, etc., and recycled into the food chain. Your body's energy may eventually be reused in the creation and/or continuation of human life. However, since I don't believe in either a soul or cellular memories in humans, this is as far as "reincarnation" goes. No recollection of your prior life would remain.

The flaw in this logic is the assumption that Earth is the only place in the universe that harbors life.

Although we cannot yet prove that life exists on other planets, given the incomprehensible enormity of the universe, it would be absurd to assume that we live on the only plant with life.

And that would be the flaw in their logic. :D

Hey People. I dont care if anyone believs me or not. But Re-Inacrnation really exists. Hindu Mythology has proved that. Of course, no physical evidence is put forward. " Re-incarnation " is not a subject that is put ona paper and signed by scientists to prove its validity.

These kind of things can be realized by anyone practising Meditation. Take Indian/Buddhist Sages (Yogis) for example. Re-incarnation is one of many Spiritual Knowledge anyone can realize if they practice meditation. Even science is still unable to prove Meditation. A person doing Meditation can gather Energy inside him. It can be directed for any purpose, not for all physical needs, but one can even make his enemy's life miserable by it.
Voodoism is all part of Meditation. But Science cant prove it, but Meditation is a fact. Science cannot reject it, but at same time it cant give evidence either. The Energy through meditation is something that cant be calculated by science, but it can be felt clearly.

i had to talk about Meditation here, coz thats the only proof that anyone can give, to the topic of "Reincarnation"

What in god's name are you babbling about? Hindu mythology has "proved" reincarnation is true, yet they have not put forth any physical evidence? Do you even know what constitutes "proof"?

Also, you claim meditation is the only proof of reincarnation, yet have provided NO link between the two. Energy manipulation? Voodoo? Neither has any bearing on reincarnation.

I tried to prove the worth of meditation only by quoting here voodoism, and energy manipulation, only to prove its worth. Why?
a person doing meditation can realize into very extremities of spiritual knowledge. For example, if a scientist has interest in a specific field, then he specialises in it, does masters degree or reasearch (whatever) into it, and his knowledge in that specific field deepens. He may know whats right and wrong. After the end of all the research, he can clearly distinguish between the theory of right and wrong in that specific area of research.
Likewise, a person riding on very high meditation, can clearly trace back all the spiritual connections and "chaos theories" associated with the world around us. It cannot be disregarded, because the world itself has accepted the theory of Re-incarnation.(root of the religions like Buddhism,Hinduism, jainism etc).

If you feel what im saying is total bull***t, then you can yourself refer to theose holy books or even do Meditation on your own.(will take years), and then disprove me and condemn the said religions

    ;)

I think other than one religion all major religion has reference to reincarnation , so if you beleive in religion you need to also believe in reincarnation , even if does exist it would destory social life to a large extent if scientifically proved , like the son born to you was a horrible criminal in his last birth ,etc . I am sure science is just few decades away to break the communication barrier between the world of living and world of spirits .

What if you discovered that the life you lived had been just an illusion, would you be mad as hell or somehow relieved?
