I registered a .co.uk domain name nearly two years ago with STREAMLINENET who trade as registrars "DOLLARMORE"
The domain is due to expire on 16 APRIL 2009
I asked STREAMLINENET to change tags on the domain so I could transfer it to a more trustworthy registrar.
When I say trustworthy I mean STREAMLINENET have a really appaling reputation for stealing peoples money, unauthorised credit card withdrawals. etc. etc
You only have to google "streamline sucks" to see what I mean.

Well I asked them to change tags and they sent back a support ticket saying there was money outstanding on my account ( Namely £9. 78 for my domain renewal ) and until that money is paid they cannot change tags.

I told STREAMLINE that they cannot demand money from me for a domain that is not yet expired and is still legally mine. ( I am still awaiting their response to that )

In the morning I will be contacting Nominet to see if they can help.

I am really worried as it is soon 16 APRIL and my domain will expire, my domain is very important to me and is hosted on my dedicated server where a lot of people rely on me.

Please can someone advise what to do.

    Thanks

If your domain name is about to expire, and you "owe" money to renew it. They wont let you transfer until you renew it.

Why don't you just pay the fee, renew it, and transfer if its so important?

Pay the £9.78 which you owe them and then transfer the domain name out to a new registrar.

Yes that seems the best thing to do but STREAMLINE have the most awful reputation for stealing peoples cash, charging for services even after you have left them, this is not just a one off mistake they do it all the time.

I don't have a credit or debit card and they won't accept any other form of payment.
It seems they just want some credit card details so they can screw you at some later point.

I contacted their support team who told me I could send a cheque for the ammount which I did. Two days later I get a Support ticket saying they were returning the cheque as they don't accept that form of payment.

And my point is I don't owe them money, the domain doesn't run out until the 16th April 2009 so technically it's still paid for till then.

    I just feel helpless.

    Thanks for all advice.

You can use a VCC or ask your credit card provider to change your CVV2 number once the transaction is over, if you fear credit card misuse
