Registering same domain on different extension (.com vs .net)

I want to register a domain, it is taken on .com and co.uk but that's it. I looked and .com just forwards to the co.uk, which is just a parked page and the owner is trying to sell it on sedo for $1500 (dunno why no PR or anything).

Anyway, should I be wary of buying the .net or .us ? I know this has been asked before but I couldn't find that thread. Oh, and it is registered to someone in the UK if that matters.

Be wary, why would you be wary? Unless of course your idea is the same as the company with the .com & .co.uk. Otherwise it doesn't matter. If it's available and your idea is unique go for it. The only negative being that the .com is the best TLD to own, so you will naturally lose some traffic. Cheers,

Go for the .net if its available, nothing to worry about, assuming your not going to copy their site :)
