Registering domains at different registrars?

    Hi everyone!
New to these forums but seems like so much to learn from here!

For a webmaster who has many sites, am i correct in assuming that it is smart to host these sites among different web hosts? So if one of the web hosts goes out of business or one of their server goes down, your whole network of sites wont be down.

Does this apply to domain names too? I was planning to register a lot of domains with goDaddy (about 15) but suddenly thought about this.

If i wanted to register many domain names, should i register them with different companies? Is there a risk associated w/ registering them all w/ one company?

    Thanks!!

It's completely different. I run all my sites (about 20) through one dedicated server right now, but we are expanding soon.

To the point though, I have over 40 domains registered with GoDaddy. It's simply your preference of which registrar you want to use. GoDaddy will never go down, as least that I've experienced. I highly recommend using GoDaddy.

Side note: if you're going to buy from GoDaddy, refer to this post to save some money: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=29483&page=6

It doesn't matter where you register your domains. You can register all at the same company if you want. And its easy to maintain if you register all your domains with the same company.
I have around 40 domains with 6 different registrars.
