I tried registering a .us domain at Namecheap earlier today. I filled in all of the .US settings in my account, stated that I'm a foreigner that wants to register a .US for personal us, but it doesn't work out for me. Any advice?
I think you may register .us at GoDaddy. I'm also not from US and I've registered .us names in the past at godaddy successfully without problems.
is there any risk in registering such domain ?? like i am from India can i register US Domain ? without involving any risk ?
You can register a US domain regardless the country where you actually live as far as you fill in a form with easy requirements. 1&1, Name.com, Domainsite and even GoDaddy allow your to register US domains with no hassle, so the problem must be namecheap unable to handle it.
As far as I know, you can register a .us just as easily as any other extension at places such as Godaddy, regardless of where your geographical location. Now as for the marketability of of .us domains...as with any other geo domain...the domains marketability is closely tied to its relevance to the geo extension (eg...StockMarket(dot)US or Washington(dot)us) *Just stating... Not sure if the domain is intended to be commercial, personal etc
If I am not wrong an auction where videos.us was sold for a few thousand and the winner was not a US citizen was taken away the domain from him. But many of my friends own .us domains regardless of geo location so I guess don't buy high priced @ valued .us domains and you'll be safe. LOL
