Registering a recently dropped domain

    I recently was watching a domain I wanted go from redemption to pending delete to dropped.

    When it dropped, I apparently missed it, as it went from pending delete at wild west to some other registrar (I forget which).

    I gave up on it, then a couple of days later I inadvertently (blame it on Firefox history or whatever) was doing something over at name.com where I prefer to use and recommend them despite their lack of affiliate program :) and the domain came up "available" and I promptly registered what I thought was gone forever.

    Anybody have a clue what happened?
