    Hi guys,

I am going to register a freakin good name (atleast i think), more of like a web 2.0 name, however i want to know what are those things that is a must to check before i register a domain name? and ur suggestion for a good registrar

I can think of a few. tell me if they r important or add to the list with your suggestion.

    1) A stable registrar, means in this business for some time.
    2) able to transfer domain -free
    3) setting up a CNAME, coz will be hosting with blogspot-wondering if CNAME is common with all registrars..am a newb.
    4) Whois Guard- i also dont want to show my name to others..is it possible?
    5) free parking
    6) Should be available for asia registrations- am in singapore. Godaddy doesnt do for asia.
    7) paypal accepted

    anything else am missing?

I thought of namecheap.com , domaincheap.com to register the domain.

do you suggest any other good domain registrar. Price is secondary, i want a good stable host. I am ready to pay 2-3 dollars more.

Well, namecheap is indeed a great place to registrar your domain name. It does have what you need for a great price and great service. I cannot be more happy than ever before.

Namecheap allows you to use their DNS Servers and you can fine tune the DNS records which includes CNAME, A and any other records. It is quite easy to use too.

I have a domain on namecheap and havent had any issues. I believe most registrars will let you transfer a domain for free, although they do make you extend it another year. So you do pay, but you are getting that extra year registration.

I believe the form did say that if you are a private individual, just type your name as the company name. The Address is for the WhoIs service which is required. You can of course set up the Whois privacy after that.

Yes, the whois privacy is not enabled by default. You will need to go to Namecheap control panel and assign it whois privacy to that domain name and your record would be hidden.
