Hi all, I have registered my company in India ( under Karnataka, Shops and Establishments act ) The name is unique and i own most of the domains/spelling mistakes, I want to know if there is any way of preventing anyone using the name as their own company ( the act doesnt prevent people from doing so ). eg, if the name is XYZ Designs, you can also register another XYZ designs. The only way i know that can prevent this is to trademark the name, any idea how to go about it, is it permanent? what are the costs involved? Thanks for your replies.
Generally you have a trademark if you're using the term or so in commerce. It doesn't grant you absolute exclusive use over it, though. If you want more protection for your trademark, check your local unit involved in intellectual property matters.
