    Registerfly... pointing to other server

Hi, ok... I point to other server by changing the nameserver, right ?

I selected bulk of my domains then clicked modify then clicked DNS nameserver then entered 2 nameservers.

Now how long does it take to get those through..... ?

Any tips ? Am i doing something wrong ?

    Thanks

To point the domain to another server you want to modify the nameservers. It can take upto 24 hrs for the domain to fully propogate.

The fly has been having problems with name server changes for the last couple of weeks. Maybe longer. I have been having a nightmare of a time for the last two weeks.

Getting support to manually do the change has been the only way I could get them changed.

Bulk tool is not making changes properly so you need to do it manually.

Not need to contact support at all, unless a technical problem prevent changes.

    • * Go to your control panel and click on your domain name
      * Select Nameserver Management clickiing on the right plus sign [+]
      * Now click on configure and you will see the menu Modify nameservers
      * Select Enter your own name servers from the dropdown list
      * Make the changes below accordingly and hit update.
And you are done! I do it this way myself with no problems.

Repeat the process manually for every domain you want to change, and wait a little bit. Otherwise, contact support indeed.

You're not doing anything wrong, they've been having troubles for some time now; i bought about a month ago some domains from them and even now they point to SEDO ; i send them tickets twice ,they said they changed the nameservers but still nothing changed.Taking your recommandation guys, i'll change them manually.

Regardless of what method you use to alter the nameservers it will take between 24 - 36 hours for the DNS to propogate.

That does work, but I could only change one per session and have it stick. By logging in changing one and then going back later to do another it worked and resolved in a decent amount of time.

I know it use to take this long, but I thought they had updated the frequency that the dns databases were refreshed. Recently, I found that .com domain names propogate in about two hours.

It really depends on where you are on the zone map. My isp is connected to a major backbone almost directly.

I can change one at goDaddy and see the results in 30 minutes. The ones I changed at the Fly were live for me in about 2-3 hours. People farther out in the zones may not see the results for 24-48 hours. The whole system works like an old telephone party line where the operator says, " did you hear that x has a new address? It is y."
