Registerfly.com is screwing us.

Check this out. Let me know what you all think and what you would do in my situation...

I got the expiration notices 30 days ago for our MAIN domain. I tried to renew but it failed... I tried again a few days later, failed. I called customer support they told me they are having problems with their renewal system and to try again in a few days. I try again, fails. I call them AGAIN and they tell me the same shit. I try again, fails. I call them YET AGAIN and they tell em the same thing, I ask them to put the renewal in manually and they say they cant because the renewal systems are still down.

Now TOMORROW is the expiration. Our site will not be accesible, we will miss sales and profit. I called them today and they tell me they are sorry they cannot renew my site. I was infuriated and asked to speak to someone else because the guy would give me NO information at all. Basically they are telling me I am screwed "sorry, nothing we can do about it"

What should I do. The only thing I can think of is that if I transfer the domain to a different registrar it will still take 2 days for that process, but it's about my only choice, the longer I wait the longer the site will be down. I have until midnight tonight to get it taken care of. Am I SCREWED or do you think there is a way I can get it transffered by tonight?

I think for now wait for Registerfly to renew it. I tried transferring 3 domain names at the beginning of the month, it took TWELVE DAYS to transfer them. They have one of the worse support systems I've ever had the disgrace of dealing with.

I had a terrible time with them 4 years ago with an appraisal and I had a terrible time again now. I will NEVER use Registerfly again, for ANYTHING.

So my advice is to wait for the renewal, THEN transfer to another registrar. If you transfer it before it expires, so close to the expiration date, you'll risk losing the name completely.

Thanks for the advice. As much as I hate to, I am gonna follow your advice and just wait for registerfly's incompetent ass to renew it.... I would hate to lose this domain....

also... right now the URL is locked.... should I leave it locked?

one more Q... How can I get my blogs linked next to my name like yours?

You MIGHT need to unlock your domains when you switch registrars, I don't remember.

Your last question, I assume you mean where it says "Recent Blog"? That's a setting in your user profile. Visit "User CP" and click "Edit Options"... it'll be down at the bottom where you can enter your blog's RSS URL. If you don't see it, it may be a feature DP allows only for members with more than X posts (maybe 50?)

update: After a month of failed renewal, the URL expired... about a week and one day later registerfly finally renewed it for us. My biggest problem for this website is getting us on google (we were fully listed and then one day only one page is indexed now) , well according to google sitemaps we were last crawled on Aug 12th! Well, my worst fear came true and I submitted a sitemap, then a few days later the site went down, the googlebot crawled us while we were down and now I fear it will not be coming back again for a few months... GRRRR. Google is f***ing extremely frustrating! SO IS REGISTERFLY!

wow.... I can't even imagine how many customers are mad at them right now.... They dropped the ball big time, a registrar that has their renewal system down for over a month!?? They must have lost a lot of money....

My adivce: NEVER use registerfly.com! I had some very very bad experiences with them. I tried to register a .US domain for 1 week. I kept getting some weird error. I submitted a few (3-4) tickets and they replied after 4 days saying that their registration system has some issues. Look at the replies I got:

    "Hello

We apologize for the situation with the registrations. We are encounter a problem with the registration of domains but this should be resolved shortly. Please try to register your domain 6 hours after reading this ticket. You should not encounter a problem.

    Thank You

    Aaron Pratt
    Rapid Response Service
    Registerfly.com INC
    ICANN Accredited Registrar"

    And another:

    "Hello,

Please submit registration order after 12 hours.

    Thank You.

    Matthew Jones
    Rapid Response Service
    Registerfly.com INC
    ICANN Accredited Registrar"

What company tells you to register your domain after 12 hours??? I thought they were joking, but they weren't. Domain names come and go and they expect me to wait 12 hours.

And you know what sucks more? They have this shit called "Rapid Response Service".

I will never use registerfly.com again. I will transfer my domains to another registrar (namecheap.com maybe).

I called them many times in the month prior to our URL expiring.

EVERY TIME they told me to try again tomorrow, after a while I told them "NO, you are just trying to brush me off as I have been told this many times, can I please speak with someone else about this matter, do you have a superior around?" of course they never did. They kept saying the system was down, I asked for information about the system being down and they couldnt tell me jack!

I have about 22 domains with them and I dont want to have to pay to transfer them all but eventually I will have to!

oh this one is a doozy too...

They told me to try to renew the DAY BEFORE, the DAY OF, or DAY AFTER the domain expiring. I was like, are you NUTS!? You seriously want me to wait until it expires and then TRY (meaning it wont work definitely, but possibly) to renew!? Those people are nuts!

Man, that really bites a big load. They've actually had problems longer than I month, I jumped ship in early November, that's when I found out about registrar problems. Seems like this new EIN or whatever it's called system really screwed up RegisterFly.

Hopefully word will spread and fewer people will use them :D

I had a similar thing happen to me with a different registrar. I lost the domain name to a third party buyer. Who when I contacted him tried to sell it to me for a hundred bucks.

I have always used namecheap.com and have had no problems. Everything on their website is easy to use and they accept PayPal.
