I hope i'm in the right forum. i really need help i got a free domain from register.com. now, i want to use that free domain to blogger.com (blogspot) as custom domain. i will use that site for only two months at most, so i don't want to spend for hosting. how can i make it work? i already have two sites hosted by blogger but i bought the domain before straight from blogger, so the settings was already there, i just use it right away. but now, i can't make this one work. here's what i already did: 1. signed up for a blogspot address e.g. mysite.blospot.com 2. i redirect it to mynewdomain.com 3. log in to register.com. i changed the cname record to ghs.google.com (as per blogger help) but when i go to mynewdomain.com - it's the same just like before. I'm wondering, do i need to change also the dns records (domain registers). Here's the picture from register.com settings for reference:
You need to point it to the blogger nameservers then add it in blogger, there should be instructions on the site. I can set it all up for $5 if you want. BTW I wouldn't use register for the free domains because the way it works is that you get it free now, but to renew it next years costs loads and that is how they make money.
Just to add that after changing dns zone settings or name servers you may not be able to see that change in effect immediately. It may happen that you will have to wait for a few hours... Of course this is only if you have configured it properly From blogger faq: - Buy your own domain, and create a CNAME record for it to point to ghs.google.com (unless you buy the domain through Blogger). - Enter your domain in the 'Custom Domain' option on the Settings | Publishing tab. Code (markup): Have you done this second step?
