Regional Restaurant Directory - Huge revenue potential

Several months ago, I created a website that serves as a huge, searchable directory of restaurants in the Tri-Cities, TN. It allows users to view by category, add their own ratings and comments to restaurants, and more.

The revenue model is advertising, and there are hundreds of restaurants in this area, so it's a very lucrative market.

I have not had any time whatsoever to update or market the site since I originally added over 400+ restaurants.

A motivated buyer could really make a full time living with this site, especially with the economy the way it is, and people looking for/turning to cheaper (yet more effective) forms of advertising like online coupons. Unfortunately I am running two other businesses, and know that I will never be able to have the time and energy to see this thing through.

The site is based on the Joomla CMS and is extremely easy to run. There is no technical knowledge involved in editing site pages, adding or deleting restaurants, moderating comments, etc.

Good luck. Restaurant review sites are not lucrative, unless you get upwards of thousands of visitors a day. I'm only commenting because of how silly your comment about making a full time living with this site is.

 

There are 150,000 people in the Tri-Cities area. Between SEO and direct marketing, it would not be hard at all to get that.

There are over 500+ restaurants in this area as well. If you can get 10% of them to do the $39.95/mo package, that is $2k/mo. That's not counting banner ads, or the basic $19.95/mo ads. Marketed aggressively, it would have no problem generating about 30k a year. More if you were super aggressive (which would be difficult if you aren't local)

It is not for just anyone. It would have to be purchased by someone who could devote some time to direct marketing. It's not the kind of site you just put AdSense on and forget about.

 

I'm interested, but how do you justify the purchase price?
