Hello, I run regional blog since last 2 years named as aamhimarathi which earlier i was running on blogspot. recently i made decision to move on wordpress self hosted. http://aamhimarathi.in Code (markup): Now I am looking for suggestion how i can promote it in order to get good targeted traffic. I require advice for following 1.How backlinks can be built for regional blogs like this 2.Social Bookmarking is not so active for regional content what is solution 3.Can you suggest some directories accepting regional content blogs 4.Please review my blog for SEO and advice improvements. 1. First you can try the same methods which are used for non-regional sites. You can also try to contact some other local sites and arrange link exchange with them. In my country is also possible to get free and high quality link from sites which are concentrated on particular cities. Maybe this will work for you too. 2. You can create some group on Facebook about your region or something similar on other social sites. 3. Have a look at directorycritic.com. They list many directories, most of them are general but I have also seen many specific directories there. 4. You target too much keywords for single page. I have visited your homepage and the title is so long that even firefox is not able to read all of them. Google displays about 65 characters in search results. Try to keep your title limited by these 65 characters. For another keywords create separate subpage. The most competitive keywords shoud be on the homepage and the less competitive on the subpages.

Anyone from India? or Internationally accepting regional sites?
I suggest you to have language option there. Blog marketing with your language is very limited. Try to build your SEO with link building.
When speaking about buying traffic do you really mean buying traffic or advertising (like PPC)? If you will search for phrases like "buy traffic" you will probably find offers like 10,000 visitors for a few bucks. These offers are so cheap because the traffic is untargeted and usually redirected or coming for PTC sites. If you are speaking about advertising in general I can recommend to use AdWords. There is possible to set up geo-targeting not only for countries but also for regions. Maybe Yahoo and MSN can also offer this but I have no experience with them. Regarding your second question -- I can give you feedback from the advertisers point of view. I use one advertising network. They offer different advertising packages like US traffic, international traffic, India traffic. While US traffic (without additional targeting) cost about 7 cents, Indian traffic cost less then 1 cent. So publishers from India get many times less profit comparing with webmasters with US traffic. For this reason I recommend to find some local advertisers. For them advertising on local website has higher value comparing with US or other traffic. It will be difficult to find some but if you will be successful you can expect many times more money per click.
Your site design is good. Instead of trying online advertisements - I suggest you to advertise in Marathi Newspapers/ Magazine. You should be able to build a good amount of traffic over a period of time. Later you could run your own customized Ads.
Kirshmk i thought about this but thing is content on website is copyrighted and i am just collecting it though most of time i tried to have permissions from respective authors there are some images which are taken from local news media. so i guess if i am advertising on local media, i am inviting legal issues. and so i am looking something different. Also about contacting local agencies for advertising on my site is good solution but for that i require atleast 500-600 unique visits and 2000+ page views /day and so first i want to know how i can promote website
