    hi phil,

Web 2.0 is a phenomenon, its not a perticular language. The advancements of web technology has boosted the way people interact in this modern world. Web is lot more than just email. And this lead rise of second phase called web 2.0

    Regards,

Well basically, any advanced & well made PHP script can be looked at as "Web 2.0". There are also newer web applications such as Ajax & RoR (Ruby on Rails). Interactivity plays a good role in "Web 2.0" as well.

As tmbejoy has said though, it's just a term people use to describe an advancement in web development.

AJAX definitely plays a big role, so I'd probably start off with getting a good grasp of HTML then move onto Javascript and then PHP.

Well since Web 2.0 is a standard is doesn't come under the category of any programming language. However, it is common for programming languages to be associated with it now-a-days. Things like PHP, Ajax, ASP etc are all leading players, along with CSS. Mostly Web 2.0 is defined by appearance and functionality not by the technology that is used. At least that is the way I interpret it :)
