Regarding the accuracy of Estibot

Ran a couple of domains through estibot the other day and got $1,400 for the domain AttractiveGold.com (available for register last time I checked, no shameless self-promotion here! :p ). IMO that is an awful lot of money for a bad domain. ColorfulGold.com (also available), which makes more sense to me, only got to about $620.

So, newbies to domaining, rather go for a domain that makes sense (bad examples, I know, but it proves the point) instead of wasting money on keyword-rich, stupid and ultimatelly unattractive domains. No one will buy them, unless you're willing to spend alot of time and effort trying to develop it.

And let those automated appraisers only serve as a vague confirmation of already valuable domains. With that said, happy domaining all! :D

A quick check of their judging system (ie backlinks within Yahoo, Alexa rank, etc) shows that their system is currently not working. For example, for my test site, they reported that Yahoo had no backlinks but yet when I clicked through, 144 of them showed.

I think AttractiveGold.com got a high rating because of all those MSN mentions.

I don;t like those automated checkers anyway.
