Look for their address and phone on their site. Most companies with nothing to hide will list this information. Call it and see if someone answers. Is their site professionally constructed? Do you have a good gut feeling about it? Trust your instincts. You can also check with the Better Business Beaurea (however you spell that word - ha!) at BBB.com. Put in their zip code to find their state and check to see if any complaints logged on them.

Unless price is an issue see if you can locate the same product in a location that's closer to you if you are concerned about the legitimacy of the website or seller. That way if the $hit hits the fan at least you have some avenue of recourse.

By just searching "X scam" or "X legit" where X is the companies name you buy from, you can learn alot. If you are buying stuff from people on this forum for example, you can check their iTrader or their previous threads & reviews. Nothing is 100% safe, but I have been buying/selling on the internet for years, and it is not hard to find the good deals and the bad deals.
