Regarding DMOZ approval.

I have been waiting waiting and waiting since I submitted Explain Stuff - A science blog to DMOZ. I have never gotten an approval or even an email acknowledgment. I was seriously wondering and would like to know if any of your websites/ blogs got approved to dmoz lately? Does DMOZ not approve blogs? I submitted about 45 days back and then I submitted the same site again a few days back after the PR for the bog was updated to 3 thinking it might win a quick approval now that Google itself said Explainstuff.com has good content. Nope, no use, no contact.

I had also applied for the moderator for a category. And I did not even receive a confirmation email saying i had applied for the volunteer moderator position.

I have read some messages lately, most of them wondering what is happening at DMOZ. But, I was wondering if anybody recently got approved?
What takes this much time for the sites to be approved? If it is the huge quantity of the sites and they lack man power, then why didn't they approve my application of being a volunteer?

I was also wondering is it very difficult to get approved for some categories and easier for getting approved for others. As most of you know mine is a science/kids and teens category, so I was wondering if there are stricted rules for these categories and hence it is taking ages for some one to respond.

    Throw your comments at me!

The only time you will get a reply is for a editor application. you are also only to submit your site once, it has nothing to do with googles pagerank. just the content the site offers.

you do know / have read that you are not supposed to re-submit in such quick succession, actually almost never . If you are writing original content and not just copy paste recycled stuff , submit once and move on .

As a DMOZ editor, I can tell you that editors go in at their leisure and approve sites in bulks. I, for instance, check pending applications maybe once a month.

Submit once and move onto other directories. Check for your link in a few months and try again if not listed or contact the category editor.

Did you candidate in a category which has an editor? Because it is longer to get listed on those categories since an editor from a parent category need to edit those categories whithout an attributed editor. That's why DMOZ need more editors. :)

Take my advice, submit to the nearest and most appropriate category, wether there is a named editor or not.

Just because there is no named editor, dont assume that no one edits there. There are hundreds of editors that can, and do, edit anywhere in the directory.

Submitting to an incorrect category means that if an editor decides to review the suggestion, it would then need to be moved to the correct category, which may well result in further delays.

Submitting a suggestion to anywhere but the appropriate category is certainly not beneficial in any way.
