Refused AdSense Account, Not Banned: what's up?

Hi ... hope someone has an idea why google won't allow grub street an AdSense account. I applied, about 4-6 weeks after site launched 17 July 2006 and several times since, with the last request going in about 2.5 weeks ago. Every application I make gets the same reply.

I've asked, via various google sites, for any explanation, but never get a response.

Remember, grub street never had an AdSense account, so not banned, but refused. You can check out site via sig.

    Here's the response I get:

    Hello dr george pollard,

Thank you for your interest in Google AdSense. After reviewing your
application, our specialists have found that it does not meet our
program criteria. Therefore, we are unable to accept you into our
    program.

We have certain policies in place that we believe will help ensure the
effectiveness of Google ads for our publishers as well as for our
advertisers. We review all publishers, and we reserve the right to
decline any application. As we grow, we may find that we are able to
expand our program to more web publishers with a wider variety of web
    content.

Please note that we may not be able to respond to inquiries regarding
the specific reasons for our decision. Thank you for your understanding.

    Sincerely,

    The Google AdSense Team

I can live, without AdSense. Am mostly curious about why the site is repeatedly refused. It's a PR4, for what that means; 255,000+ Alexa, for the little that means; gets about 17,500 uniques and 95,000 page views a day, with steady growth; site is content, not ad, driven -- about 3200 editorial pages -- and checks out well against criteria on various google pages related to good design practices.

    Thanks in advance.

    I have something similar:

    When I login:
    Account Not Active
An AdSense account does not exist for this login, as it is associated with an unapproved application. For more information about your application, please review the message we sent to the email address you provided with your application.

The email I put in Adsense doesn't work anymore... so I never got any explanation from them.
No answers when I tried contacting them.

    :(

Well, it depends on your website your submitting, what is the URL? I'll see if I can tell why you keep getting denied.

I have also undergone such problems before. What I did to get accepted is I made a blog in blogger/blogspot and applied it in adsense and after a week of waiting I was able to get the confirmation that I got accepted in adsense considering that google owns blogger.

Yeah, i agree they generally accept blogspot.com sites pretty quickly, i got my first adsense account that way, but used my own website after i accidentally cloesd my google account associated with that adsense account to get the account second time.

What's so special about Blogger is something I don't understand. Is it really true that Google do this because Blogger is theirs? But aren't this being unfair to the rest of the web sites? They should judge according to content.
