So I'm finally ready/thinking about ordering a refurbished MacBook next week. Why a MacBook? Well for one I need something that isn't very big, preferably under 16", because I'll be using this either in the train(takes me almost 2 hours to get to work, and again 2 hours to get home, so I want to spend the time usefully), or at home on my 20" TFT. Secondly, it comes with Mac OS X, now for those of you who don't know, I'm a web design/print designer(something I actually hate), so it would make sense that I not only learn how to use a mac on daily basis but also use it on a daily basis. Oh and I also love textmate. Yes I know it might be a little nuts that a text editor is one of my primary reasons to get a macbook, but then again I am a developer So I'm not really looking for people who'll tell me to get a dell, ibm, or some other laptop. What I want to know deals mostly with the refurbished bit. Right now they(Austrian Apple Store) have a "Refurbished MacBook 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo - White" for about 900EUR, but they usually have a "Refurbished MacBook 2.00GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - White" a little shy of 1k EUR. Now my questions: 1. What is the overall quality of refurbished products from Apple? Is it even noticeable? If so, should I spend the extra 300 to 400 EUR on the same macbook to get a new one instead of refurbished? 2. With a refurbished product you get a 1 year warranty, I'm not a laptop person, much less a macbook person, but is a 1 year warranty long enough? I'm usually very careful with my hardware/entertainment stuff, and none of it has broken down, at least not badly enough that I've had to send it back. 3. Is there a big difference in terms of performance between a 1.83ghz core duo and a 2ghz code 2 duo? 4. This goes primarily to people with first hand experience, is there anything else I should know when getting a refurbished, or even non refurbished macbook/product from apple?
