Irshad Manji is an outspoken feminist muslim that promotes reform in islam. Irshad has had many death threats, but continues to speak up. What do you think of this translation of the Quran?

Reformist Translation of the Quran (pdf)

If you notice anything missing from the reformist version, paste tradition Quran verse with reformist Quran verse for comparison and debate.

there is nothing like reform in islam
the chapter had been closed a long time ago

This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.” - Al-Quran (5:3)

you don't select and chose the parts you like, either you chose it completely or don't chose it

~ Just call it Quran-A......and see which one disappears. The religion is not meant to be read but lived anyway.

it doesn't matter, there will be censorship strictly by the letter of law, so that nobody has an excuse and it won't be interpretable in various ways. More and more reputable media companies jump on that already. Questions are asked in straight forward manner, next step ... ?

... at the end take it or leave it and leave ...

don't forget to follow up the case against CAIR, lots of undeniable proof of being directly connected with Islamic terrorism.

The arrogance of that last statement is kind of funny considering the history of the Quran.
They were busy with war conquests at the time, but years after muhammad's death, they decided to compile the Quran. They took all these "post-it" notes, compiling them together, then added in unwritten recollections as well. They were filtered through a patriarchal society biased against women.

For example, 4:34 about beating of women

    M.H. Shakir's translation:
    Yusuf Ali translation:
The reformist translation refutes these translations, along with a detailed explanation as to why. I have NO interest in ever converting to Islam, and I think it's all a fairy tale. However, I do appreciate the fact that they seem to have a higher respect for women. It's not that they are making up stuff, or adding to the Quran - it's more that they are taking away bias from translators who wrote it. New - it's almost as if they have given more thought and consideration to their religion than you have.

    Reformist translation of the Quran:
I don't agree with your interpretation of that verse.

oh, not to forget, Germany sent it's gay, Westerwelle, minister of foreign affairs, to Saudi Arabia. He talked 2 and 1/2 hours with Prince Saud privately.

Westerwelle was taken seriously when he talked about human rights and that aid programs would be cut off for countries who do not respect universal human rights.

hmm, but what did they exactly do for 2 and 1/2 hour in private? :D :D

After the meeting with prince Saud, Westerwelle was scheduled to meet King Abdallah, oh la la ...

lol. so you are the new mufti of Islam
    great!
and you don't need to interpret the verse, its meaning is crystal clear

    http://www.ediscoverislam.com/About-Islam/The-religion-of-Islam/islam-the-perfect-religion

Quran is read and memorized in its original form i.e. Arabic .. and the 'reformists' can say anything and wish anything .. there is no harm in day dreaming .. who cares ..

I feel sorry for you rebecca but these attempts to impure Quran are not new and you will be disappointed to learn that they will be never successful, because ALLAH Himself has ensured to protect the Quran as it is the Last of the Divine Books

Verily We have sent the Reminder (i.e., the Quran), and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption).” [Quran 15:9]

"Verily, it is an honorable well-fortified book of exalted power (because it is Allah's Speech, and He has protected it from corruption). No falsehood can approach it from before or after it: it is sent down by the All-Wise, Worthy of all praise.” [Quran 41:41-42]

Yay! Thanks, New. It's great - so many people believe that thinking for themselves is blasphemy, and everyone will just mindlessly believe and follow whatever I say.

Why don't you read the reformist Quran regarding 4:34 (beating of women) explanation. Then, come back and say specifically what you object to.

She is heretic and out of the fold of Islam. I not consider her as Muslim or have right to speak for Islam or on my behalf. In fact I as a Muslim woman feel offended if such person is considered to be part of Islam.

LOL. Nehemiah, it looks like the Quran does talk about Jesus - but I think they deny his divinity, death, and resurrection.

Islam gives its followers happiness in this world and eternal bliss in the life to come. Islam simply means total submission to the Will of Allah. Therefore, it is the same in essence, whether given to Nooh (Noah), Ibraaheem (Abraham), Moosaa (Moses), 'Eesaa (Jesus), may Allah exalt their mention, or to Muhammad . For the message it calls to is the same, and the source of unity is the revelation from Allah (which means): "He has ordained for you the same religion (Islam) which He enjoined on Noah, and that which We have revealed to you, and which We enjoined on Abraham, Moses and Jesus: namely that you should remain steadfast in religion and be not divided therein.” [Quran 42:13]
