I've been reading here off and on for some time, and I registered so that I could share...

Http headers are passed by the browser, and different browsers behave differently, even when the code is the same.

I've set up a simple tool on my website that's designed to check the referring page and tell you what it is.

If the referrer is blank, it will tell you so, otherwise it will tell you what the referring page is.

To check your referrer, point your redirect to:

    http://seoevil.com/refcheck.php

I'll be maintaining the page indefinitely.

I'll also be adding a tutorial in the next few days on better redirects for firefox, IE and Opera
