Has anyone else noticed a huge increase in referrer SPAM? You know, those referring links that point to the top level domain of a site, or otherwise to one in which you have no links pointing to you? I even got a spam link from PayPal this month! Just curious to know if any of you have problems like this. Ever since the last Google update, I'm getting tons more traffic, but I'm not convinced that it's quality traffic...
i've noticed a drastic increase in spam in my gmail account, in my blog comments and spammy registrations in 2 forums that i run. it's really getting terrible...
Referrer spam is always a problem. Have you tried to combat using your .htaccess file, if not suggest you do some research on .htaccess and set up a plan of attack. If you are running on an iis server there are things you can do as well.
I have an .htaccess section devoted to referrer spammers... But they just keep multiplying. Seriously - PayPal? I have to believe that someone is trying to create havoc. This month is just tremendously bad. Maybe I'm just getting to be too successful.
Are there any dynamics being used in the links? It could be an attempt to blacklist your website in Live.com/MSN SERPS
