I see all of the setups for referrals and the manual has 75 references to referrals...

But, how does a customer make a referral?

I guess I just overlooking this somewhre.

When they signup if you allow access to the miscellaneous fields, the person signing up can enter the referrer. And it of course can be done when adding a user manually.

OK, so "Joe Referrer" doesn't have to submit a referral, the new customer just says that "joe@xxx.net" referred me. Is that right?
Is the match is on the Customer ID (main_email@domain.com)?

I went to "web interface setup"->"online signup"
    and checked:

"Can fill in miscellaneous into fields" - YES

I still don't see it when I go to add.html.

Something else I need to do?

It will be the page after they fill out their name/address.
